Top 2024 Volunteer Drivers

Celebrating Our 2024 Top 10 Volunteer Drivers: More Than a Million Miles of Service
In 2024, New Growth Transit hit a major milestone—over 1 million miles of free rides provided for our rural neighbors across 14 Missouri counties. That’s more than just distance on a map—it’s doctor visits made, groceries secured, jobs sustained, and lives connected. Even though current budget constraints have limited the types of rides we’re able to offer in some areas, we’re actively working on funding to expand service again. In the meantime, there’s plenty to celebrate.
At the heart of our 2024 million-mile achievement are the volunteer drivers who power our program with their time, care, and commitment. Today, we proudly recognize the Top 10 drivers of 2024 by miles driven—heroes behind the wheel whose contributions helped make this milestone possible.

Why They Drive as a Volunteer
Why do people give so generously? Many volunteers start driving for the practical benefit of mileage reimbursement—but what keeps them going is something deeply relatable and inspiring: the desire to help others and feel connected to their community.
There’s Tameka, who gives back in a way that works for her after a life-altering diagnosis.
Michelle found connection and support after retiring to the lake by getting to know her new community through driving.
Evan as a busy mom and graduate student, Jessica discovered that being a volunteer driver fits perfectly into her busy life.
And, Rowann checks her email each day with excitement, wondering who she’ll get to meet and help.
Whether they drive 500 miles or 25,000, each of our volunteers makes a difference.
And, YOU can join the work too! Consider being a volunteer driver or donate to cover the miles so others can drive.
Together, we’re working on giving another million miles in rides—and building stronger rural communities, one mile at a time.
