Conscious Discipline Training

Ideal for anyone who works with children—educators, parents, foster parents, child care providers, and youth workers who want better tools for working with behavior challenges.

Conscious Discipline Training

Behavior challenges don’t come with a handbook—but the way adults respond can change everything.

For those who work with children—or are raising them—there’s an opportunity in Clinton to learn practical, research-grounded strategies that make everyday moments more manageable and more meaningful.

Building Skills That Start with the Adult

A full-day Conscious Discipline training on Thursday, August 13, centers on an approach that may feel different from traditional behavior management. It starts with the adult.

This adult-first framework focuses on helping educators, caregivers, and parents regulate their own responses first—so they can guide children more effectively. Instead of reacting in the moment, participants learn how to respond with calm, build connection, and turn challenges into opportunities for teaching.

Because when children feel safe, they can learn—and when adults feel supported, change is possible.

What You’ll Learn

Led by Certified Instructor Cathy Lancelotta, the session will walk through practical, real-world strategies you can begin using right away. Topics include:

  • Supporting self-regulation in children
  • Building a sense of safety and connection
  • Encouraging cooperation without power struggles
  • Responding to challenging behavior with composure and intention
  • Teaching problem-solving skills that last beyond the moment

Whether you’re in a classroom, a child care setting, or at home, these tools are designed to meet you where you are.

Who Should Attend

This training is open to anyone who works with children or cares for them, including:

  • Parents and caregivers
  • Foster parents
  • Child care providers

Why This Matters

Across rural communities, those who work with children often wear many hats—and don’t always have access to training that’s both practical and grounded in real-life experience.

This session brings together research-based strategies and everyday application, helping adults feel more confident in how they respond, communicate, and guide children through challenges.

And in the end, those small, everyday interactions are what shape stronger relationships—and better outcomes—for both children and the adults who care for them.
