Getting from Dream to Main Street Takes More than Numbers

Nicole Tolli wasn’t looking for business support when she scrolled past a Facebook post one day — but that post changed everything. It led her to the New Growth Women’s Business Center, and ultimately to the courage to open her own Main Street office in Nevada, Missouri.
Like so many entrepreneurs, Nicole had the dream but also the doubts. She could handle numbers — she’s an enrolled agent authorized to provide a full range of tax and accounting services for individuals, businesses, nonprofits, trusts, and estates. Years of experience gave her a strong foundation, but launching a business of her own felt intimidating.
When it came time to take the leap into opening her office, she especially valued having guidance in navigating something brand new to her: applying for a business loan.
Business Support
That’s exactly where New Growth came in. With support from business counselor Sydney and microloan coordinator Kim, Nicole discovered she didn’t have to go it alone. She had people she could call, ideas she could test out loud, and trusted guidance through the loan process. “Just having someone there to walk through the process with me made all the difference,” Nicole explained. “I didn’t feel like it was me against the bank. New Growth helped me weigh options and feel confident moving forward.”

With the help of an approved business loan, Nicole opened Tolli Tax and Accounting at 123 S. Main Street, where she can now professionally welcome clients in person at her own local office — rather than trying to meet online or in a public coffee shop. She serves Nevada and the surrounding communities with a full spectrum of financial services:
· Tax planning, preparation, and resolution
· General accounting and compliance
· Payroll services
· Sales tax reporting
· Financial consulting to help clients understand where they stand and make smart, strategic decisions.
Nicole’s experience with city firms gave her a strong foundation, but her heart was always set on helping local families and business owners closer to home. “My goal is to help people understand what’s going on in their financial life and how it affects their taxes,” she explained. “When clients can make decisions ahead of time, they feel empowered.”
Serving her Home Community
Nevada wasn’t always Nicole’s home. She and her family moved to the area four years ago. But something about the community quickly felt different.“Within a couple of weeks, we knew our way around. It felt like home in a way we never had before,” she said. And Nevada, as a hub for surrounding towns, was the natural place to put down business roots.
“This is the central hub for so many surrounding communities,” Nicole shared. “People already come here to shop, do business, and connect. It just made sense to put Tolli Accounting where people are already going.”
Opening her doors isn’t just about serving clients. It is about building a future for her own family too — creating a business that supports her kids while helping other families feel secure about their financial picture.
Nicole is quick to admit she still feels the nerves that come with owning a new business, but she’s equally quick to acknowledge the encouragement she’s found through New Growth. “Running a business can be overwhelming,” she said. “But knowing I have people I can reach out to makes it feel a lot less so.”
And that Facebook post? It turned into something more powerful than a business resource. It became the starting point of a story where one rural entrepreneur found the confidence to bring her vision to life — and, in the process, to help her whole community feel a little more confident too.
